If a person is on ventilator and has a potassium level of 3.3 why is he at risk for Respiratory acidosis?

instead of Respiratory alkalosis?

  1. If a person in on a ventilator he shouldnt be at risk for respiratory acidosis or alkalosis as you can adjust the ventilator.  

    Also that is a low end of normal for a K+


  2. its probably got something to do with K+ leaving the cell and taking in more H+
