  1. The person above me does not know what he is talking about.  If you don't make the cut, you don't get paid, simple as that.  The tournament he is talking about where Rory Sabbattini walked off did not have a cut, so that's why he still got paid.

As far as the new rule about the cut that caused controversy earlier in the season, it's been amended again so that everyone on the cut number plays on Saturday.  If they need to, they have another cut after Saturday's round.

  2. If they miss the cut they don't get payed tournament prize money. Go to the address below and it will show you how DJ Trahan finished last year in the tournaments he played in. It will show N/A for money in tournaments he missed the cut. The only time they make money if they miss the cut is when it is not a full field tournament like Sony Open which is an invitational tournament. They do however get payed to play in the pro-ams which is in the neighborhood of around $1,200.

Rory Sabatini withdrew from the AT&T National which was invitational Tournament.

  3. No if you don't make the cut you make nothing.

  4. yeah, regardless how many are in the field, last place gets paid.  obviously, it's much less than those that make the cut, but not a bad chunck of change.

an example I have is when Rory Sabatini withdrew from the AT&T National (Tiger's tourney) last year.  He was going to finish last regardless what he or anyone else did and (he said) he wasn't physically able to keep going, so he withdrew.  He still made $177,000 for that.

Makes me wish I could shoot in the 70's LOL.

  5. No, in certain tournaments, you do get paid regardless if you miss the cut or not, and example is the ProAm at pebble beach and the Bob Hope classic in Palm Springs.  However, for the 4 majors, and MOST other tournaments in which just tour players are playing, if you miss the cut, you get nothing.  If you always earned money, then why would people decide to skip tournaments that they dont like???

  6. if you miss the cut you don't get paid

but as of this season they are doing something different it is sort of confusing

if the cut and there is to many players above the cut line (this is being done because of tv) they move the cut up to the next #

lets say the cut is +2 and it is above the set limit of 70 player ..i will say 79 players with +2 or better and 63 players at +1 or better

The players at + 2 would get paid   but not play the weekend

  7. YEP everyone who plays gets paid, regardless of their finishing position ~!

  8. Can one of you site a source for this rule?  I always thought that if you go it you would get something.  I mean, think of just the travel and lodging expense to get to a tournament.

  9. They invoked a new rule this year to speed up play that the top 70 make the cut and so many ties.  Those who are tied past the limit of ties get paid last place money, but don't get to play on the weekend.  If you don't make the cut, you don't get paid.
