If a recently deceased person files a posthumous tax return, will they get a stimulus check?

The person in question is a relative that died in 2007. I just filed their return for 2007.

  1. Stimulus checks are sent to everyone who filed a tax return. . . so, yes. . .did the relative get money back ?  Wherever that check is sent is where the stimulus payment will go. . . Who signed the form? Someone with power of attorney ? Then they can sign the check and cash it. . . .Wow, I like this. . .it's like getting even with IRS. . . .Yes, there is a God ! ! !


  2. Yes if they qualify.  and all required were filed in order for you to claim the refund.

  3. Yes, the check should be issued assuming that they qualify - dyiing during the year doesn't change eligibility.  The check will become part of the estate.

  4. Yep, if otherwise eligible.  Congress didn't exclude the dead from the stimulus program.
