  1. You bet.  You're required to pay your deductible.  If it were YOUR car that you owned, you could opt just to not fix it and therefore not pay your deductible or file a claim.  But the car's not yours, and you signed paperwork when you rented the car taking on the responsibility for any damages.  So you're going to get sued if you don't pay.


  2. Is your insurance paying a part of the cost?  I would think if you had a claim of $1,000 you would be responsible for the entire amount.

    Can they?  I suppose so.  Would they?  Ask them.
