If a restaurant has both take-out and dine-in, would it be weird to have customers open separate doors to get into the dine-in section?

For example: Customers walk in to the general business through glass doors. From there they have the choice to either take-out or dine-in. Customers must open their own doors directly into the dining area. Is this weird?

  1. no excellent way to handle.....some friendlys already do this.  much better way

  2. I worked for a place in Wisconsin that had a dining room, carry-out and delivery service. The carry-out section was separate from the dining room. It worked out perfect.

  3. Not really, there are a lot of places that have both take out and eat in and everyone enters into the same door.

I don't know where you live but in Florida, a few examples are Bru's room, Too Jays, Chillies, most pizza places, Subways. there are loads more but you get the idea.

  4. This wouldn't be weird at all.  Infact I think it is a great idea because you are saving space for your dine in customers who are waiting to be seated and you are saving time for your take out customers who are wanting to get their food and leave.  The specific doors will take care of any confusion as to where the customers need to go for what.

  5. I seen places like that, and I like it. Because the take out area was more loud and fast pace, and people who dine out can have a more quiet setting with take out customers going and out the same door.

  6. Macaroni Grill does this.  It's not too weird.

  7. no not too bad, but why not have a separate entrance for dine-in and i drive thru for take out.
