  1. Yes :P

A double is a double is a double.....gr I hear that word to much being a setter....

  2. he shouldnt....i played vb for 5 yrs....some officials will

  3. Yes.  Double on a set is only allowed if setting a ball that has just been spiked.  But don't quote me.  I've been in sooo many leagues (from college to recreation) with vastly different rules and the rules change over time.

  4. yes the official can call a double because it was a double and it isthe setters job to not double

  5. the first touch of the ball and it's a double, the official may not call it... but on the second and the last touch of the ball, and is a double, there's no reason not to call that... that has been the rule

  6. First driven ball you can double no matter what

  7. A double hit is allowed on any first ball over the net.  Not just a spike or serve receive.  It has to be one attempt to play the ball and can have multiple contacts.

The second play or the third play may not be double hit.

That is the hardest part of officiating over the last 10 years since the rule changed.  The official is supposed to allow the terrible double hits on the first contacts and then be ready to call the tiniest double hits on the second and third hits.  It is difficult to have two different sets of ball handling standards.  It is even more difficult for the fans to understand.
