  1. sure

  2. James Buchanan was single....

  3. Depends on the candidate...

  4. Only if he were Republican.

  5. Absolutely.  And no worries about a wife sticking her foot in her mouth.  That's a plus!

  6. Yes, I think he would.

  7. To be honest?  I don't know!  This is a good question.  If I had to guess than I would probably have to say his chances wouldn't be good.  His personal life as a single man would be under tremendous scrutiny by his opponents.  The whole issue of s*x before marriage, his sexual history with women he wasn't married to, etc etc, would probably be his downfall.  It would show a lack of commitment on his part, and lack of decisiveness.  Where as somebody's who's married, has kids, and a girlfriend in the Hampton's that nobody knows about has a much better chance.

  8. I doubt it. James Buchanan is the only unmarried man ever to be elected president. Buchanan was engaged to be married once; however, his fiancée died suddenly after breaking off the engagement, and he remained a bachelor all his life.

Say what you want about France - but their president is a stud. Sarkozy has dated supermodels throughout his life. He divorced his wife 5 months after winning the election, then married another supermodel. Imagine if that happened in the US... immediate impeachment.

  9. Worked for Jefferson...

  10. I'd probably be more tempted to vote for a single man.

I can't understand why the "first lady" is even an issue.  Why should she get to speak?  She is nothing more than the President's wife, and should have no say in anything.

  11. Yes.  James Buchanan was never married and was elected in 1856.

Of course, most historians consider him the worst president to serve a full term.
