  1. If she didn't buy the plot then yes. If she did there's nothing you can do about it. It used to be that when a family plot was purchased it was stipulated at the time, who the plot was purchased for, by naming specific family members to go in there. If your sister didn't purchase the plot and she is just  standing firm and resolute, then you may need to make an appointment with a solicitor, to clarify the situation..

  2. I don't think you'd be able to. The cemetery can let you sign a letter taking over ownership, but if your sister found out, she can take it back. Usually the council only follows this procedure for title owners who may now be dead or are untraceable. However, if you are indicated as a member of the family who is to be buried there, the fact that your sister has ownership is irrelevant. It's best to have a talk to the officials at the cemetery where the grave is to confirm things.

  3. No, not if she owns the deeds. You can' t be buried in my plot, either. Whoever owns the deeds decides on who goes there, just like renting a house.

If she just HAS the deeds in her safety deposit box, and your grandfather bought the plot, you need to see a lawyer.

  4. I think you'll have to ask permission. As when my brother died, his father had his name down on the deeds to be buried with him. For some reason, my mother is not allowed to be buried with her own son, so she has the deeds to be buried diagonally from him. I think my brothers father didn't want her buried with them, as they broke up.
