no effect on our environment. Why do governments want to use carbon taxes, as a form of punishment on businesses, that are helping crop yields that feed the planet.

  1. The worst thing as soon as President Bush jumped on this bandwagon about the AGW theory oil prices are continueing to rise unchecked. He has basically stopped trying to stop that from happening. To me there's no reason for this to happen except for the UN and our government using it to force change on the American public.

  2. Governments have been opportunistic about pushing through taxes by claiming they're for our own good.  The 'global warming' taxes will stay even if the theories about AGW turn out to be completely incorrect and we head into another ice age.

The theories of AGW are so unlikely that they are purely speculative.

I don't think the Earth's atmosphere and biosphere is sufficiently well understood that we should regard changing the atmosphere as a good thing.  That might have some unintended negative consequences.

  3. Most scientists say a small increase in CO2 does have a large effect on our environment.   Plants grow much faster with more CO2, but don't grow strong or put out much usefull products for humans.     Carbon taxes don't even pay for how much the government subsidizes carbon based fuels.   I'm happy those who use the most pay back some in tax dollars so I don't have to support them so much.

  4. This is exactly what I've been thinking all along. Increase food and things grow faster. CO2 , food for plants and algae etc, Trees and plants grow faster, algae reproduces at an alarming rate. You seen algae booms at sea sucking up huge amounts of CO2 until food is scarce and populations drop. It's all been taken care of by mother nature. The little extra CO2 we produce and mother nature brings up the reinforcements just as she would do if one of her volcanoes blew it's stack upsetting the balance that was there before.

But, you get dickheads like Al Gore and a few other of his cronies, making loud noises in the ears of politicians saying "We can tell you how to rip off the masses. It will be a load of bull but the average Joe Blogg will believe it if we get enough scientists to say it's true"  And that's how they are going to get away with it.

Governments are now promoting Bio Fuel . Bio Fuel to do what? Lower CO2 levels. How, burn bio fuel and what do you get? CO2. The whole thing is a scam and is just another small plan to kick start an even larger plan. You can see it coming a mile away.

  5. Your premise that a small increase in CO2 doubles plant growth is incorrect.  A small increase from what?  If this were true, why wouldn't we be growing plants in greenhouses with high levels of CO2?  We'd have monster crop yields if you were right.  It's simply not true.

To a certain point, more CO2 creates slightly more plant growth.  However, at a certain point that's no longer true, because increased CO2 also causes warmer temperatures and droughts.  Studies have shown that we may have already reached the point where more CO2 will actually harm plant growth.

And of course there are many other negative aspects of increasing the temperature of the planet.
