  1. 1 international knot = 1.1507794 miles per hour

Therefore a storm moving 20 knots per hour would be moving:

    20 knots X 1.1507794  =  23.015588  miles/hr

  2. One knot (which is one nautical mile per hour) is equivalent to 1.15 statute miles per hour.  Thus 20 knots is 23 statute miles per hour.  A statute mile is what we commonly refer to on land.
