I am trying to figure out how to tell when short activity data that is up to 1 month old, still might hold true for a given equity?

  1. if it's a month old, then long investors would have already adjusted their premiums to reflect that short interest, so it would already be priced in.

maybe if you were working with better data you might be able to see something, but i doubt it.

  2. No -

You never assume anything in the market, only fool would even try.

You have to check open shorts rather than just trading activity.

    DON'T ASSUME
