  1. Most of the time officers will make a vehicle stop with these vehicles to check them out. When a temp tag is displayed the expireing date cannot be seen without making a vehicle stop giving the officer reason to make the stop. Most defendants like to use the fact that the officer had no reasonable ground for the stop but when it comes to court they find out that the judge finds probable cause for the stop. So even if someone stole a vehicle and covered it with a temp or fictitious tag there probabley going to get cought.

  2. sounds to me like you are planning to steal a car and trying to be smart and get away with it.  I may be wrong.  But, the dealer would call the police and file a report that states the specific color, year, model of the car along with the VIN number and the temporary plate numbers and the temporary registration numbers.  You would get caught in a matter of minutes.

  3. In Illinois, all temp plates are automated and have been for years - they can be ran in the computer like any other plate.  If someone steals a plate from a dealer - they are entered as not issued yet - and then you know something is wrong.

One thing Illinois is ahead of the game on.

  4. I would love to see a car put on its own plates and sticker.  How would a car hold a s***w driver with those thumb lesss tires?  Can the wheels even reach the windshield to put on a sticker.
