  1. First off.  I would reinstall Windows.

  2. I taught a year in a private school. I had a class write a term paper for 75% of their grade. I was reading through the titles, sorting them into logical topics, and I ran across one that was a photocopy. Now I've photocopied papers I've turned in because I thought I could use the paper for another course -- so I thought nothing of it. Pretty soon I ran into another photocopy on the same topic. Eventually I ran across an original.

Let's say the work would have gotten 60 points. I gave one copy 30 points, one copy 20 points, and the original I gave 10 points. To whom could they complain? "We cheated. We all turned in the same paper. But we got different scores." Eventually the kids with the copies admitted what they had done. I gave the original the 60 points he deserved and flunked the other two.

I was Computer Department Chair in a college. I noticed some programs looking suspiciously similar. So I wrote a routine and substituted it for the system's "COPY" program. Whenever a copy was made it told me who copied what from where. Armed with that information I told the class that I was aware of who was copying what and from whom. If I ever saw any more of it, the only paper those doing the copying would receive would be a bill for the tuition until the end of the quarter after which time they would be out of the college.
