  1. i would absolutely do nothing but i will send him/her an e-mail afterwards telling him/her how unprofessional and insensitive from them to use such inappropriate word for a student. I will also add that it hurt my feelings and he/she has no right to discourage and embarrass any student like that whatever their mistake was.

  2. I would tell the principal

  3. If they literally called me stupid, I would tell them that calling a student stupid was unprofessional, and add that the word "stupid" was rather mundane, since they're a teacher, they should be smart enough to come up with a more educated word for me than "stupid"... then laugh.... possibly walk out

if they were mocking your character, tough luck... harder to prove

  4. I do hope that my daughter would tell me if ever a teacher did something like that. I afraid they'd be looking for a new job.

  5. Is this a hypothetical question?

If not this would be grounds for review with the school board.

My reaction would be to record all the details and file an official complaint.

  6. That is extremely inappropriate for the teacher to do.  You need to tell your parents and the principal.

  7. i would talk trash to them..

... oh wait .. i forgot what i was gona type

    oh well

  8. Honestly it depends on why he/she called you stupid. In most countries outside of the U.S. teachers can call you just about anything and hit you, and most of the kids won't complain or try to sue, as long as they know they were in the wrong. The real question is why did the teacher call you stupid? However I would bring it up to the principal, because its innapropriate for an adult to snap and say things like that in front of other kids.

  9. As I read different questions on Yahoo Answers about teachers who are behaving inappropriately, I am shocked.  A teacher in any school in which I've taught would be reprimanded severely or fired for such behavior.

As the other writers have suggested, you need to report this to the principal.  You also need to discuss it with your parents first, because they may want to go with you.  I've found that a dad intimidates teachers more than a mom.  I have a real life example of that when my child was not getting fair treatment.  Just letting the teacher know that Mr. _________ was coming right after school to discuss _______ caused an immediate 180 degree change.

Witnesses, such as other students, would be especially helpful if you needed more proof.  I wouldn't go in with them at first, but if the principal doesn't believe you, you can always say that X and Y were right there and heard it.

Apparently these teachers that are behaving so inappropriately feel that because we have a teacher shortage, they can do as they please.  Not so.  The bottom line is that they are to behave ethically and professionally at all times.

Good luck with this.   As long as you are telling the whole truth, you should be okay.  Don't exaggerate or try to make it worse.  I also hope you have a good record as a student.  That always makes a difference.

  10. I would tell him or her to blow me then crack his/her own jaw.

  11. This question deserves more information before we as a public are able to answer this intelligently.  My first question is to ask, are you the student? Was the teacher stating that something you said or did was stupid, which is not meant to be a character attack, but to state that an action or statement itself is stupid.

I am a teacher and there have been occasions that students actions have been stupid, but I would NEVER say that a student was stupid, only their behavior or perhaps even an inappropriate statement.

  12. It happened to me my sophomore year of high school. I didn't know the answer to a geometry question and the teacher told me I must be stupid to not know it. I reported to my mom and she contacted the school. My counselor switched me to another class to avoid further issues, but I don't believe anything ever happened to him as a consequence. He retired the next year anyhow! I'm a teacher now and I can't imagine ever saying that to a child, but teachers do sometimes become frustrated...just like students. Take into consideration the teacher's previous behavior. Has she/he typically been a good teacher? Was she just having a bad day? Or has she/he done this to other students before? Or to you? If this is recurring problem or a situation in which you felt the teacher was trying to hurt you, you need to report to your parents or your school counselor. They can help!

  13. lol i would deck them... then make there life a living h**l from then on out

  14. I would suck it up and get over it, and not go complain because "someone called me names... cry cry cry".... : /

  15. i would say "you got it twisted.you're the stupid one."

    im dead serious.

  16. Sue her for character defimation. Good Luck!

  17. Give us some context.  What were you doing before she told you this?  I once had a guy in my Math class who lit his crotch on fire with a lighter.  The same guy also huffed gasoline, passed out, and broke his nose on a shovel in his garage.  My teacher told him he was stupid.  And he was.

So...are you stupid, or do you just have a mean teacher who deserves to be fired?   Tell us your story, and then we can decide.

  18. I've had that happen yrs and yrs ago. I didn't do anyting. I didn't care.

  19. stare at them, i woudent say anything back because i would take to the principle

  20. If you are smart, you say nothing back to the teacher, but you certainly get witnesses and bring it to the attention of the school administration via your parents.  There is no tolerance for disrespect, whether it is toward the teacher or toward the student by a teacher.

  21. I would not say anything rather report him or her to the principal for using "foul" language.  Teachers should be encouraging their students not putting them down. OR better yet, bring a tape recorder to class (hidden) and if the teacher again calls you stupid in class you have evidence and I would report him or her to your local news.

  22. i would give them a death glare.

    Stare at them, without blinking.

it'd be awesome if you were kinda goth, and you had black hair and dark makeup, then you just stared at them, and started muttering nonsense .

man, that would scare me shitless :|

  23. I wouldn't say a word but later I'd tell an adult later (my parents could handle it from there). I would give the teacher a hard time for the rest of the class though, but not hard enough so I'd get into trouble or make the teacher really angry at me
