  1. hehe sounds fun, I think i might try that ;)

  2. no but you can sign up on the National Do Not Call List, that prohibits them from calling but it take 90 days to go into effect

  4. no....thats not true!!

  5. no, i don't think so. Most telemarketers cant remove your phone number from their calling list.  Only the 'courtesy' calls  eg. from our bank , credit card company can remove your number.

For the rest, the telemarketers can only change the NUMBER OF TIMES they call your house. So if you p**s of a telemarketer they can put you on 'call 2/3 times a day' list. the least number of times they can call is usually every two weeks.

The best thing to do is dont pick up your phone, when you know its a telemarketer, or just hang up on them ( you can even add 'no thanks, i am not interested' if your polite)

bitchhing at them will only make the calls more frequent.

  6. Just tell them directly to take you off of the list instead. Or be angry with them and they should take you off also, but could also have you intentionally put back on the list....Protocol is for you to be taken off.

I'm a telemarketer now (I'm in college and need money and we hate it as much as you hate us). There are 5 options once we call: skip, answering machine, remove from list, call back (we enter in the time you say is better, which is why you should never just say "i'm busy" if you want them gone), and wrong number.

  7. No, sorry.  A good tip though, telemarketers are regulated by the FCC.  Which means that the telemarketing company and its employees have to adhere to FCC regulations.  The best way to get out of a telemarketers list is to first get their name, the company they work for (if they haven't already told you) and tell them you would like to be placed on the "Do Not Call List".

They are allowed to call you that first time, there is nothing saying they can't.  But after you tell them this and they call you back it is an FCC violation.  If you wanted to you could file an harassment lawsuit, b/c that is what it is.  Most of them put you on the list no problem but there are disgruntled workers that just don't care and tell the computer that there was no one home and to call back later.  Something to think about if one certain company harasses you all too often.

  8. Register your phone number at this government website:

    www.donotcall.gov

Once your number is registered here, your number MUST be taken off the telemarketer's list, or they will get in trouble. Many states also have a state Do Not Call list registry.

Once you're registered and your number is entered in the system, you can only be contacted by a company that you agree to have call you, or if you have business with them, and certain charitable organizations.

  9. I don't know where you heard this...but that sounds a little foolish...
