If a tornado looks like it isnt moving, does that mean its coming straight towards you??

  1. Not necessarily.  That would be a bad idea to try and guess where they are moving and not something you should try to outrun either....


  2. If a tornado were coming at you, it would probably appear wider and larger than where it was originally. If it doesn't appear to be traveling, than it must be temporarily stationary. But tornadoes can be very unpredictable. When they touch down they can move anywhere and can last for a few seconds to a few hours.

  4. If you see a tornado and it is not moving to the right or to the left relative to trees or power poles in the distance, it may be moving towards you! Remember that although tornadoes usually move from southwest to northeast, they also move towards the east, the southeast, the north, and even northwest.
