  3. This is a philosophical quesiton that has three meanings attached to at. I'm not going to label them all, but my favorite is the argument between the Materialists and Idealists. The Materialists claim is yes, because a tree exists without you needing to be there. It is made of matter and as such it will make a sound, grow, die, or whatever it does without anyone needing to be around. The Idealist claim is that the world is just a perception of your mind. As such, unless you were there, it didn't actually happen. Even if you were there the day before (when it was standing) and the day after (after it fell), the would claim that the transition wouldn't have occurred at all because no one perceived it.

  7. Yes...the natural laws that govern our world do not cease to exist simply because no one is around.  If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around, it makes the same noise it would if someone were present.
