This is actually a question that is raised by the idealism of the philosopher Berkeley.  Berkeley's idealism is often used to amuse students in introductory philosophy courses but is not taken seriously in our modern world that accepts an objective reality that doesn't exist just in our minds.

    The answer depends on whether you accept an Berkeley's idealism or not.  I don't, so the answer for me is Yes.


  2. Yes.  Sound is the vibration of air molecules and that happens even if nobody is around.
