A trial which ended 3 months ago, the defendant in a sexual abuse trial was found not guilty. Now, it turns out that he is dating the daughter of one of the jurors. I feel this could have been part of the reason that justice was not served. What can be done now? Who should be made aware of this?

  1. Try going to the prosecutor who handled the case.

    Prosecutors hate to lose.

Make sure you can back uo these allegations.

  2. There were 11 other people on the jury though... those other 11 had to be convinced that the person wasn't guilty as well... I'd contact the district attorney who chose who was in the jury..

    Best of luck

  3. You should contact the District Attorney on the case with a possible mistrial under jury misconduct.

Also - was he dating the daughter of one of the jurors BEFORE or DURING the trial? If it's after, it's completely irrelevant and it's not considered a mistrial.

  4. You should speak to your District Attorney.

  5. Very little can be done after the fact.  A retrial would require solid evidence that the "dating" was going on before the trial and that the juror purposely withheld that information.  Even if the information was withheld, it was also the job of the district attorney to ask if anyone on the potential jury had any connection with the accused.  All of this would be difficult to prove after the fact.
