With out his shell he would be dead.if his skin comes away from the shell... it is said that they die too!  If his shell gets a hole in it and it is not sealed up or is sealed but the wrong way... he will die. So basically No shell or a bad shell... he is a dead turtle. So i guess he is LIFELESS!

not sure what u mean but if it had absolutely no shell dead but soft shells some times look like they have no shell
