  1. Depends on the restaurant manager, how bad the error is, and if you are a good or bad server.  Usually it is harder to do nowadays with the computerized order entry screens.

  2. Yes. It usually depends on the restaurant though.

  3. IT is illegal for them to garnish your wages for mistakes, broken items or anything of the sort. You come to work to make money and they know that when opening a business those cost are incidentals. Under no circumstances should a boss make you pay for anything job related unless its uniforms. And if it has the brand name on it you dont have to apy for it. Tell them to write you up. They will threaten you though because they no they arent supposed to do it.

  4. Any chain restaurants more than likely will not do it. They have lots of money and don't do that to their servers. However, smaller mom and pop might make the server do that.

  5. They don't have the right to make you pay for it.

If you made a mistake DONT pull it out of your own pocket!

    Mistakes happen.

If they fire you over it, get a lawyer.

  6. Yes.  It would depend on the situation and the server error.

The manager usually will fix it if it was an honest mistake.
