  1. As any old National Serviceman will tell you, when you recieve a letter from the war office telling you to report for National Service, and especially in a time of war, and you do not report as directed, you can be arrested by the civilian police Or the Military Police and spend about 5 years in a Military Prison. And believe me, they will find you.  In that situation, the Human Rights Act is no defence.

  2. Send the politicians in first. It'll be their fault, it always is... xx

  3. Did you hear about the nukes?

  4. I think if it came to that alot of people would volenteer anyway if the country was in dire need, I mean your only gonna make matters worse by hiding.. I dont think they could do it although there would be a big campaign to recruit like WW1 or WW2.

  5. No point.  We would all end up nuked and dead.

  6. if a war really start with russia, it will probally become SCO against NATO which will lead to WW3 so we will all be screwed!!

If u rufuse to go, then nothing happens unless its become really bad

  7. If you refuse to go, you fill out a form stating that you are a conscientious objector and on what grounds you object (religion, personal philosophy, etc. and no, being too frightened doesn't count)

It's actually incredibly easy to avoid the draft in the modern age.

  8. reserve armed forces automatic call up. everyone else would need to be vetted now.

  9. well, are you are aware of the "conscientious objectors" of WW1 and 2. basically, they said they would refuse to fight on to religious or moral grounds, and because we are a free country, it was OK then and it would be OK now. However, the objectors were vilified by the public as they were refusing to help their country. People despised them - why should their son/ father/ husband go off to fight and dye, but not them? Hence, their lives were made h**l. in the end most decided to help the war effort i.e. by being a medic etc.

if it happens (d**n unlikely) then no they could not force you. But you can be sure that 99% of people (me included) would be willing to fight if the threat was real.

In addition, the age of large pitched battles between men are really over - it would be a nuclear war - in which case, no one would have a country to fight for.

  10. I think all men between 18 to say 40 should be made to protect their country if this did happen. I'd be proud to be a part of History and also get them moody tight a$$ Russians they need to chill out for god sake!

  11. Thankfully, there is not going to be a war by the West with Russia/China.

I should warn you that in the unlikely event of a call-up and if/when you receive your call-up papers, if you refuse, you will be hunted down and handed over to the Military authorities.  In effect, in time of war, you will be treated no differently than a 'deserter'.

Old Soldier - but hey!  don't worry, there is NOT going to be a war.  In spite of the rhetoric, we're actually on very good terms with both the Russians and the Chinese.

Yeah I know, everyone thinks we're going to be enslaved by the Russians because they have lots of gas and oil.

It's all a big smoke screen really.  Turn about and focus on the South Atlantic - that's where the next big oil is coming from - not sure when, but any time soon, quicker than you think.
