If a watch comes with a wireless transmitter does that make it reqired to do the features it says it has??

Is the transmitter just for better accuracy or do i need to have it within a certain range of the watch for it to do the features it has such as show me the distance and pace i am running??

I think the transmitter is for home or camping use; say to know what is the temperature outside while you are inside.

I would check the Timex website for more details.
