  1. Hi Sheryl,

Many newer VCRs do not have a tuner built in. You will have to provide tuned output by connecting the output of a TV or DVD that has a tuner into the input of your VCR.

Tuners are being phased out of low end equipment because everything will be switching to digital next year.

Most VCRs made today are playback only and will not record.

  2. Record what?  If you mean record from  COAX cable, then run to radio shack and see if they have a coax to triple RCA adapter.  That will send both audio and video into the VCR so you may record.

  3. Your VCR is designed to work with an external tuner.

You can connect to a cable box, satellite box or stand alone tuner.

If your TV comes from an antenna, you can use one of the Government subsidized digital to analog converter boxes that everyone is buying for the DTV changeover.
