Question:

If abortion and contraception were illegal...?

would you change your sexual habits at all?

Let's assume that contraception is unreliable and difficult to obtain, and the only abortion you have access to would be unsafe and illegal. In a society without reproductive rights, would you make any of your sexual choices differently?

  1. considering that i dont have any sexual habits to speak of......i guess i wouldnt change a thing.

  2. I'd leave immediately. The only place in which this would occur is some God-fearing police state.

EDIT: And if leaving weren't an option, I'd go into hiding somewhere.

  3. Leaving is always an option.  It just depends upon how much you're willing to sacrifice and how hard you're willing to work for it.

    I'd leave.

  4. If abortion and contraception were not an option, women would go back to being choosier about who they allowed themselves to get involved with. Our female ancestors had no access to abortion or contraception, so choosing a bad man to conceive children with meant a life of horrendous struggle and it contributed to high child mortality rates. Read a few books on evolutionary biology and then follow the choosey wisdom of your female ancestors. Look for the same kind of men they sought out, and you will start to find yourself attracted to better guys.

  5. Honestly, I would find a way to force my body into infertility, I know there's bound to be something out there that can do it.

  6. You do realize we would be going back to the 1950's that the traditionalists seem to revere.

They had condoms and diaphragms for contraception- both have a 5-10 percent failure rate, no pills, patches, IUC's, etc,    They had illegal abortions.

Lots of people either changed there s*x life or had babies every year.

  7. Yes.  But I'd be VERY unhappy.

  8. Only a rigid theocracy would outright ban contraception and abortion. I wold do my best to resist the government by whatever means were available. This would include armed resistance if the only form of legal petition available was to find everyone responsible for this travesty and make them deep-throat a pipe bomb.

The only real change to my sexual choices would be in keeping my **** out of my partner's ***** until it's time to have kids.

  9. Basically you want us to pretend we are living 50-60 years ago?  Ok, men would still be getting women pregnant and women would then be going to back alleys like they did and they'd be dying like they did...  don't you read about history before posting this stuff?  This has already happened...

  10. No, I would still continue not to have s*x until marriage.

Abortion is one thing, but I have to wonder why contraception would be illegal.

  11. These things are not illegal now and people are still getting pregnant and keeping their miserable offspring - they just get the government to pay for it. I don't think it would change much.

  12. There wasn't any contraception 200 yrs ago.

But people didn't w***e around like they do nowadays. People were more responsible.

  13. Yes. I wouldn't have much of the kind of s*x I could get pregnant from, since I don't want a baby a year.

And I'd be really cheesed off about it.

  14. Lots and lots of oral s*x I guess...... But it would never happen. It could start civil conflict. maybe not a full blown war but the level of civil disobedience would be huge.

  15. i definitely wouldnt have had casual s*x.

I would still carrying on having lots of s*x with my husband and would just keep the loads of kids. I would do that now ifI was rich!

  16. Well, I think that women would know their bodies a lot more(ovulation). I do think that some people would refrain from s*x until they were older, but not always entirely. I don't think there would be many one night stands and there would be a lower STD rate. There might be more babies born though.

  17. I already don't take contraception, it's already unreliable.

I don't have s*x so I wouldn't change my sexual choices at all. I don't understand what 'reproductive' rights really constitute, a woman being able to have s*x without dealing with the consequences?

If I were to have some sort of s*x it would be the guy on his knees if I didn't want a baby.

Also, how would anyone 'go into hiding?' They would just be without contraception there too right?

Edit: ksnake10 has got the right idea.

  18. Me personally-- not at this stage of my life.

History has proven that women find ways to end unwanted pregnancies through the use of herbs or physical means.  Sometimes they died trying.

No law is going to change human sexual behavior to completely eliminate unplanned pregnancy.  Unplanned pregnancy will always be a part of human existence.  Access to safe, legal abortion protects the lives of women who choose it.  Contraception gives us the power to decide when we are ready to become parents.

  19. I would probably have a vasectomy.

  20. I think 69 would be quite common in that case.  That and "working" with your hands.

I'd hope to find a woman who is unable to get pregnant, then have at it like I usually do.
