If abortion is legal, why isn't suicide?

If a person has the right to do whatever they want with their body, why can't someone legally kill their own body without any interference from the authorities?

Isn't that consistent with the abortion laws?

Because many people don't view a fetus as a human, so it doesn't have rights.

I also wonder why I can't go to the doctor as ask him to remove my arm, if I don't want it anymore. It's MY arm, MY body, MY choice, but no doctor will do it. That's stupid. My arm has more rights that a living being with a heartbeat.

What you're looking for is that the person committing suicide is making a conscious decision.  Is it thought out all of the way?  Probably not, but the key is that they made the decision, whereas a fetus is helpless in this regard, and forced to comply with whatever the mother deems appropriate.

Suicide should be legal and for exactly the reason you give. People should be allowed to do what ever they want with there own bodies. Including kill themselves.

Attempted suicide is not a crime in any u.s. state, despite popular belief to the contrary.  It is evidence of mental illness that will support temporary committment to a mental health facility, but it is not a crime.
