1. A/C Voltage is a measure of energy used for movement, A/C current is the amount of heat that is created as the voltage pushes the energy through the wire. D/C voltage is applied battery voltage . All the same applies in both, but one is the energy in your house, and the other in your car.

  2. You are right that it is kind of nonsensical, but it is the easiest way of distingishing ac power from dc power without having to actually spell out alternating current or alternating voltage everytime it has to be said or written.

Saying "ac voltage" or "ac current" is the same thing as saying "not a dc voltage" or "not a dc current" and vice versa. It is just the standard that has come to be used in practice... it's not perfect, but it gets the job done.

  3. A voltage for a sine wave is not the same as the voltage for a no alternating signal. I see the confusion, but it's pretty simple if you think about about. Just a measure of energy.

  4. think of the 'current' in "alternating current" as the transfer of electrical energy. it is saying how the electrical energy is being transfered.

when you say ac current, you are talking about how fast energy is being transfered in an alernating manner, as opposed to a constant (direct) manner.

same applies to voltage. Its how hard the push is on the electrical energy. so ac voltage is how hard the push is in an alernating manner.
