If air ionizers are silent, how can I tell if mine is working?

I bought an air ionizer that the seller said was new. There is a small night light on the bottom of it (it's a plug-in Ionic Pro) that doesn't work, which makes me wonder if the thing works at all. How can I tell, since the ionizer part of it is supposed to be silent?

  1. Yes, check the plates after it has been on for a day or two.

But since those move the air electronically if it is moving the air I believe it has to be working.

I really like my similar one. They don't move a lot of air compared to fan powered air cleaners but since they are silent it is no problem to leave them on 24/7. So overall I think they are better.

  2. give it 24 hours to try to work then check the ionic plates and see if they are loaded with stuff
