  1. the screen on your TV is softer and more porous than the glass you typically use the ammonia cleaners with. the alcohol wipes are OK, but dont use rubbing alcohol its to strong, your also not supposed to use ammonia window cleaner on you car windows if they are tinted , the ammonia Will turn the tint purple after a while


  2. Maybe for crt screens etc?

    You usually get special whipes etc for lcd screen that have a formula to prevent screen going funny.
