Drug:any article, other than food, intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of humans or other animals.

Cold medicine is a drug, tylenol is a drug, nicotine is a drug, caffeine is a drug and these are not illegal.  A drug isn't by definition illegal.  It's just slang to use the word drug to mean any narcotic.

Each of you that says alcohol kills is a fool. People kill when they make stupid decisions. Those decisions way be any of: talking on cell phone while driving, speeding while driving, drugs or alcohol while driving, putting a CD in the stereo while driving, ETC. and many many more. People also kill themselves with alcohol by abusing it. The same is true with legal (prescription) and illegal drugs and cigarettes for that matter. We should make stupid people illegal which would solve some of our problems.

Just do the right thing and take responsibility and stop blaming inanimate objects for killing.

Alcohol is legal because Americans (insert any country)  want it to be.

And it is true that the Gov. wants the tax dollars as well.

If we use the logic that alcohol kills it should be made illegal then we should also make religion, and other ridiculous ideologies, illegal as it and they have killed more people throughout history than anything else.

Just because something is a drug doesn't mean it should be illegal. In many countries, alcohol WAS illegal at one point or another. Look up Prohibition.

Not all drugs are illegal. Only the ones drug companies can't produce are illegal. There are plenty of legal drugs with much worse effects / dependency issues than certain illegal drugs (ie marijuana). Alcohol also falls into that category. Producers make way too much money for it to ever become illegal again. Plus, things did not work out to well for everyone when they did make alcohol completely illegal.

Because the government cashes in when they make it available.

When they banned it, everyone sold it secretly, and the govt was losing out on all that MONNNNEY.

I personally would be happy if it was illegal.  It killed my mother and ruined our family, and almost ruined me.  Just because it's legal doesn't mean people should consume it.

cuz america is dumb and outlawed a drug that has no long term effects, is non-addicting, and produces no hangovers (ie. marijuana), but made alcohol, which kills more people per year due to car accidents and overdose than any other illegal drug, (not to mention all the long term effects like cirrhosis and liver disease) legal. we live in a messed up world my friend. so to answer your question i will ask you another... if marijuana is a better (using this term loosely) drug than alcohol, why is it ILlegal? also, alcohol is only a depressant, which still doesnt give it privileges over narcotics but like i said, america is super dumb.

well when the companies made the alcohol, they expected adults to handle it well. but clearly as u see there aren't many grown-ups who do that. but the reason they keep sellin is because they receive more attention to it( u kno people buy it more often).
