  1. You have the wrong impression that the two are mutually exclusive.

I don't believe there is a supernatural being who created the universe but if there is then he did it with the use of what we call the Big Bang.  There is much evidence that shows the Big Bang happened and approximately when it happened.  Cosmic Background radiation is the best example.  It was predicted by Big Bang  theory in 1948 then later discovered in 1965 by Penzias and Wilson at the Bell Laboratories.  In addition to the discovery by Hubble that all galaxies are receding and therefore the universe is expanding.  There has been no evidence or discovery that shows otherwise.

But that does not mean there is no god.  It may just be that we have discovered how god performed creation.  I don't believe that is true but god is certainly compatible with the big bang.  For example in Judaism, the Big Bang could be the moment that god created light and the heavens.  The timeline in Genesis is a bit off for this explanation but so are a  lot of timelines in the bible.

  2. It depends on whether the aliens could supply proof of God.

  3. Well you have stumbled close to what is about to happen very soon.

    Google/youtube: "Project Bluebeam"

Type III 'aliens' and fake 'messiahs' (along with miracles, healings, and a new religion) just in time for 2012! Many will be fooled...

Will you believe in these 'aliens' or God that is the major theme for the beginning of the Tribulation. Just do NOT accept this:

Later, ask yourself how we knew in advance:

    2 Thessalonians 2:10-13

  4. Why would one believe a snake oil salesman just because of his alien extraction?

  5. Do these aliens have proof?

If so, I would entertain the idea.  If not, then they are no different than the thousands of religions already on earth.

Also The Big Bang Theory and God are not mutually exclusive.

  7. Yes because big bang was actually fueled by god

  8.   What't the difference if they tell us or the pope does

  9. If they had some nice juicy evidence I would jump at the chance to consider it. If they turned out to be the same as believers on Earth thinking they already have all the answers and conforming the universe around those facts then I would tell them "we don't want any".

  10. Its not a matter of "believing" in the Big Bang, because the concept is correct and there is proof. God has no evidence and no proof... so I'd think these aliens were crazy.

  11. if Aliens came to earth and said blue was red, up was down and George Bush was an honorable man would that make any of these fallacies true?

Some of the right-wing religious fanatics act like they are already from outer space. That doesn't mean any of their anti-choice, anti-evolution, anti-intelligence rants have any real merit.

  12. Sure. I would just wonder how they advanced so far while maintaining belief in such superstitious nonsense.

(Gee, why do I have the nagging feeling that I'm not going to get best answer for this?)

  13. I wouldn't be so sure. But, the aliens saying God created the Universe seems highly impossible. Maybe, the aliens are the same as us, living in another world etc. Also, there is no proof that God exist, only the Big Bang has proof.

So, I'd still believe that the universe was created by the Big Bang.

  14. We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

Unless they had concrete evidence, I would continue to trust in the sciences that do (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COBE).

  15. I guess it depends.  Would the aliens have any evidence for their claim?  Or would their only argument be to thump on a self-conflicting text containing archaic mythology written by racist, sexist corrupt men, translated and altered dozens of times by other corrupt men?

  16. Logic says that "P implies Q" is a true statement if P is false. Your premises are false

  17. Without scientific proof, those aliens would be just one more religious viewpoint, no more special than any of the religious dogmas of Earth. That's what makes a viewpoint special: proof, the ability to make correct predictions, and the ability to make things happen. It doesn't, or shouldn't, matter who you are -- leader, follower, saint, sinner, sage or simpleton: if you make predictions that come true and can provide proof that what you believe is true, then your ideas are the right ones. If you can't do those things, then anyone who takes you seriously is a fool.

Let me turn your comparison around on you. Suppose aliens came to Earth, said that there was a god, but said that his god was definitely not the same as your god. Suppose that alien described his god in such a way that it was clear, by the differences, that there was no chance of reconciling his religious ideas with yours. If he's right, then you're wrong. If you're right, then he's wrong. Of course, you might both be wrong... and that's the way I'd be betting.
