If all the religeous people moved to Mars , would we have world peace?

Millions dying in the name of someone who you truly only have the chance of finding out whether they were worth dying for when you are dead seems mass ignorance on a horrifyingly large scale.

So whether they are right or wrong I feel we might get a lot closer to world peace without religion on earth.

(Mars might be a pretty violent place though!)

Mightasw- you're right of course but only b/c Mars won't sustain life. To say that all the religious people would magically get along is an exercize in willfully stupidity and your stupidity is looking pretty buff !

I doubt it very much, considering that Stalin, Hitler, Genghis Khan, etc. weren't religious at all.  As a matter of fact it was just the opposite with the exception of Genghis who was more religious tolerant and never really followed any religion.

with the aristocracy, Mexican revolution' thousands were shot for their religion,Spanish civil war, Rwanda thousands clubbed to death

Korea war, lets not even mention Stalin [millions]

The world would be populated by self-centred, self-righteous people who looked at themselves as the sole arbiter of their own personal morality.  They would feel justified in doing whatever seemed right to them, because the only risk they would see is the risk of being found out/caught/punished.  In other words, they would feel justified in getting away with whatever they could as long as it suited their purposes.  Selfishness, greed and materialism would rule.  No-one would be trustworthy, because there would be no personal gain from honesty or keeping your word.  The elderly, sick and disabled would not be cared for as there is nothing to be gained by it.

Only those with an awareness of a higher morality can build a society where people love and care for one another.  What other source of a higher morality could there be but God?

I can see where your coming from as religion has been and still is responsible for a lot of wars but your forgetting wars which are based on one country/area wanting to gain another countries/areas wealth i.e. coalfields, gas supply, land e.t.c.

Non religious people don't fight wars, very often, but they all treat each other like c**p.

Some violence by Christians in name only is long ago history. Violence in both the Islamic and Hindu religion continues unabated today. Christians went around helping Buddhists who had burned down 24 of the Christians Churches after the 2004 Tsunami of 2004. It might be a good idea to leave the peacemakers. I am not sure about the desperately cruel and violent Atheistic Communistic regimes

Given that the majority of "conflicts" on this planet are based on cultural differences or over imaginary "dotted lines" (ie borders or territorial disputes)... your suggestion would only serve to reduce one aspect of cultural diversity.
