Is there enough salt dissolved in the oceans to pile up on the sea bed if the water disappeared?

  2. Yes. Every tonne (cubic metre) of seawater that evaporated would leave behind 35Kg of salt. That is how rock salt deposits are formed - when a body of seawater is cut off from the oceans by geological activity, and slowly evaporates.
