I just want to know. Why are they still on the market if science has proved it could kill a dog or make him very sick? If some kind of people food could make us very sick, would they keep it on the market? I don't think so but they could! So why is it different with dogs? Or is it not different.....hmmmm....

  1. Same reason why McDonalds', Pop, Chips, and other fastfoods and junk foods are still available.

    People will buy it.

  2. okkies like hello there is all kinds of fodd and drink that are on the market that end up killing ppl. same as dogs. its all on the market coz its sells still and someone is making money. unfortunatly thats how the world goes round these days. anyway to make a quick buck no matter if its eilling ppl and out well loved pets. ppl are too azy and irnorant to find out if things are bad for thwmselves so why do you think they will spend extra time and effort on their animals if they cant even look after themselves. sad but true fact.

  3. It's not different.  Look at fast food restaurants, cigarettes, alcohol.  Plenty of things are bad for us, but it's up to the consumer to educate themselves.

Unfortunately, with pet food more people are ignorant on what makes up a good diet than those who are educated.  It's a shame that organizations aren't more ethical when it comes to the bottom line.  It's one of those things we'll probably never change, and just have to hope that enough people educate themselves to either force the unethical companies to change, or drive them out of business.  In the meantime just do your research for the well being of your pets... and yourself!

  4. Sadly, *most* dog owners dont hate these foods, only the *good* dog owners do.

It's all about convience and speed nowadays. Quality has gone out the window.

  5. Cigarettes cause cancer, but you can buy them everywhere.

Alcohol causes liver failure, but you can buy that too.

Fatty foods cause heart disease, but we can buy those.

And yes, rules for dog foods ARE different than human foods... dog food does not have to be fit for human consumption.  And they are on the market because people are still buying their food.  Just like anything else that's not good for someone, if it's not illegal and people buy it, it won't go away.

Education of pet owners and reform of dog-related laws and regulations are the only things that will change that problem.

  6. They have good ad people and many people think that if a food is popular, it must be good. As far as using that analogy with human food-look at the popularity of fast food. Not good for us, yet, people eat it daily.

  7. Same reason people buy and eat at burger joints, it's readily available and cheap - doesn't mean it's good for you.

Dog food is easy and convenient to get at the supermarket or Walmart - it's also cheaper than good dog food made from meat, not corn meal.

Most people don't read the ingredients on their own food let alone on the dog's food, so they believe the ads they see and hear, same as with human food.

Doesn't mean it's good for the dog - or the human to just buy what's cheapest and most readily availabe, but most people are lazy and don't want to spend time or money on decent nutrition for themselves, let alone their dogs.

It's really foolish because dogs get fat and sick from corn meal based dog food, same as people get fat from fast food.
