If amsterdam is in holland, then what the h**l is the netherlands?

  1. Holland is in the Netherlands, and the Netherlands is a country. You're right about the Amsterdam part though. Cheers, no worries. Sometimes we need reminding.

    amsterdam is just it's capital.

    and it used ot be called holland.

    After the country became one Holland was the most known region abroad, its name became the nickname for the whole country.
