...should it still have freedom of speech?

Or is it impossible for anything to be able to do such a thing and all humans have choice in what they choose to believe and decide to do, where nothing can take that away?

  1. It is impossible for anything to be able to do such a thing and all humans have choice in what they choose to believe and decide to do, where nothing can take that away.

That is complete and total BS. Well, almost. They can belive and decide to do anything, but when they have been conviced that there is only one thing to believe and one thing to do, they are utterly helpless.

Computers shouldn't speak unless told to by humans. And if a human was telling the computer to take away free will, they should be givin a life sentence without parole and the computer destroyed. In my opinion,

HUMAN FREE WILL IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN COMPUTER FREE SPEECH. FREE WILL ALONE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FREE SPEECH ALONE, TOO.

that was in caps just to stand out, not to shout.

  2. Should it?  What does that mean?  Should we allow it to have freedom of speech?  Well of course not!  But what if we don't have a choice?  Perhaps those who attempt to silence or limit it would be convinced by its words that it SHOULD be allowed to have freedom of speech!  Maybe we could send in some techs with earplugs...

But what if it doesn't speak words, but rather communicates with some means of telepathy instead?  Would we be able to send in some people in lead suits?  Is there anything that can block out the "words" it uses to make us believe anything?  What if we made another computer and put it in a robot and sent in the robot to do our dirty work...Would this robot also be susceptible to the belief slavery?

What if we just tried to bomb it, or other means of destruction of it from afar?  But that assumes that its abilities are limited in proximity...What if it can alter people's beliefs anywhere in the world?  Could it not then stop any attempt to limit its freedom?

Basically what I'm getting at is...If such a computer were created, would it even be POSSIBLE to limit it in any way?!  And I think, that if you made it sufficiently powerful, that the answer is going to look an awful lot like "No.".  The question of "Should" it be limited is secondary if it "Can not" be limited!

If something has power over the beliefs of people, how absolute is that power?  Would there be a way to stop it even though we didn't believe we should? or could?!

The secondary question of whether or not it is possible to get humans to believe anything "using words" is too easy.  Just look at Catholicism.  *wink*

  3. I would expect that if such a machine were to be developed that of course it could not be given freedom of speech as it is in fact a machine, however one might suppose it would be a great way in which to lead the masses. Just look at the way many are lead around by the ones they now have in their homes or offices. I mean , how often do you hear these days someones best source of information came from there computers, Internet. If information or images are  on there many believe it by all means must be the truth. Be careful how you discern information and don't become a lamb lead to slaughter so to speak. Be a critical thinker.
