If an ant was the size of a human, how fast could it run and how strong would its sense of smell be?

The common perception of ants is that they are so strong they can lift up to 10 or even 50 times there own body weight.  this feat, would be equivalent to a 200 man lifting 2000 pounds (or 10,000 if he were lifting 50 times his weight) over his head.

The truth is that as animal or even an object grows in size, its volume and weight would increase much faster then its height. If a 220 lb man were to grow ten times taller, his weight would increase by a factor of 1000 (the cube of his height). He would weigh 220,000 lbs! The strength of his muscles, on the other hand, would increase by the square of his height, or by a factor of 100. He would be 100 times stronger but 1000 times heavier. His muscle strength could never grow as fast as his weight. It's simple geometry. There is little reason, then, to compare the strength of small animal such as an Ant to a big animal such as a Human. When it comes to how much more than their weight they can lift.

An Ant of out size would not be a very capable animal at all. There small puny legs are ideal for there size and weight when being small but if there anatomy was to be scaled up to our size they would simply just collapse under their own mass. Ants are built with a low center gravity which is ideal for a small creature but if that were taken away then they would be very weak.

On the other hand if a human was to be shrunk to an Ants size despite not being the strongest animal for our size we would easily be much stronger then an Ant or in fact any insect as we are built to withstand gravity. In answer to your question an ant would not be very strong at all, most likely very weak however its sense of smell would still be well intact as this would increase with its size and therefore have a sense of smell almost equivalent to a wolf ( wolfs have a greater sense of smell then their domestic counterparts).

I doubt it would be able to run being human size means its light legs would crush under its own weight.Smell wud obviously become very very effecient because its sense of smell is in any case excellent
