  1. They are looking for an evaluation of how well the child interacts with others.

  2. Social and Emotional functioning is typically how the child socializes with peers and others. Some things to include are how your child socializes with other children, adults, siblings, etc- shy, withdrawn, outgoing, talkative, leader, follower, etc. Has your child recently become more withdrawn more outgoing, any noticeable changes in social behavior? How your child handles emotions- trouble controlling anger, sadness, etc, trouble expressing or dealing with different emotions. Typically we have sent home questionnaires asking parents to rate their child on a scale of 1-5 for specific items. Have you received anything like that? That allows the school and parents to have a more concrete knowledge of any deficits or strengths of the student. If this is just the application to get an evaluation, just include any concerns you have about your child's ability to socialize with others and any problems with emotions that you feel they are exhibiting. This should be addressed at the Domain meeting to decide what evaluations will be done for your child. Good Luck
