If animal food is a byproduct of ethanol, why has the price of animal food risen?

  1. It is not a byproduct. Animals eat corn, which contains a lot of starch. Starch can be converted to sugar, and fermented to alcohol.The remaining  unfermented material can be fed to animals but it is a lower quality feed.

    There is no free lunch.


  2. i think it is not a by product. animal food like corn are the ones really used to produce ethanol. you need too much animal food in order to fuel a single vehicle that is why demands increase and supplies for food usage decreases.
