Why can't we eat raw meats like other meat eating animals?

We can? OK, go out and buy a raw chicken, or pork roast, bring it home and eat it, don't cook it, just eat it!

  1. you can eat your raw meat, i'll stick to bbq and roast beef

  2. Animals and humans are susceptible to different illnesses.  Something that may make a human sick might not bother a chicken.  Plus, as raw meat is exposed to the environment it can grow bacteria which forms into food-borne illnesses.

Parasites are in animals sometimes too.  Trichinosis, a parasite which embeds itself in muscles, is in pork and is difficult to destroy without medication.  Other illnesses such as ecoli are common as well as the occasional case of botulism, both of which cause nausea vomiting, diarrhea and sometimes fainting and double vision.

You could eat raw meat, and it's not definite that you'll be ill, but it's a large possibility.  The best thing to do is to just cook it.  Raw meat is also very tough to biute through and not very tasty...cooking is what tenderizes meat for consumtion and the seasonings and marinades from cooking are usually what add the flavors.

  3. Simple, the animals have different digestive tracks.  For example, most carnivores have short intestines.  Humans have both a short and long intestine.  The raw meat passes through very quickly through an animal without any harm; but in a human, it takes much longer and the raw meat has time to set, spoil, and transmit parasites.

  4. As said...

Yes, man CAN eat raw meat, but animals have adapted to eating raw meat, unlike us- we discovered how to *cook* our meats before that happened. Raw meat, especially chicken, can be potentially dangerous and very harmful to you, I wouldn't suggest it. You will be sick for some time if you do try it despite all of our warnings.

However, in Korea and some other countries, they do eat raw beef. If you ever want to feel somewhat like.. an animal? you can go to Korea and try it out! It's rather good.

Good luck! Please do not catch a disease by eating raw meat. ^^

  5. i believe they still do that in some parts in the north?

  6. to be fair, man can. ever heard of foods that are cooked tartar? it means raw. sure theres always the possibility of germs killing us, but thats not to say we CANT. cooking is used to enhance the flavours the same way people cook vegetables. who would ever eat uncooked rice? ick

if animals could cook their food they probably would.

  7. look up any of the following food terms:

    Carpaccio

    sushi

    tartare

    ceviche

Check this link for a much longer list of raw meat dishes as they are served all over the world.

  8. our digestive systems have evolved to the point that raw foods would cause intestinal parasites in us.  animals digestive enzymes would not allow for the growth of this in many cases (dogs still do get them).  hope this helps.

  9. We can but all the germs on the meat can make you very sick or even kill you. As for animals they eat it anyways cause they cant start a stove and and cook it lol, if we didnt have the power of fire we would be eating raw meat too.

  10. we can.

but just cause you can doesn't mean you should.

unlike those animals we know about the health risks and have the fire to kill any harmful bacteria.

plus it makes the meat taste better.

  11. Actually we can, before man discovered fire, they should have eaten raw meat, right? HOWEVER, would you ear RAW meat instead of a delicious and condimented cooked meat? Why get so frustrated about animals eating raw meat and you don't? It's not that I am angry or anything, but if you want to eat raw meat just do what you have said: "go out and buy a raw chicken, or pork roast, bring it home and eat it, don't cook it, just eat it!". Well, actually there are people eating raw meat: the japanese and maybe in other cultures n.n
