  1. You can flip a car.

You can shoot a car's gas tank.

You can crash a car at 100mph into a brick wall.

You can even catch a car on fire.

Will it explode? no. That is all movies. Even if the car is on fire and it hits the gas tank. It just goes pop. As there is normally not enough fumes to cause an explosion. Liquid gas does not burn, the vapors is what burns.

That is why an empty gas can is more dangerous than a full one.

  2. This isn't Grand Theft Auto.

  3. Not usually.  Cars that flip upside but are not damaged are safe to turn right-side up and then drive normally.  Most car fires result from electrical problems.  Crashes are much less likely to result in car fires in real life than in movies and television.

The one situation when you should run is if you see gas dripping or leaking.

  4. No, this is only true in the movies. If you've ever seen a rock crawling competition those guys jeeps get flipped all the time and don't blow up or rock crawling probably wouldn't be popular. Also, we use rollcages in racing...if cars blew up from rolling over little good it would do you.

For a car to blow up you'd need gasoline in vapor form and some flame or spark to ignite it. Fuel lines are usually pretty sturdy and unless they are in horrible condition wouldn't leak, the gas tank is in the rear of the vehicle so there are very few things to ignite it seeing as all ignition related components are in the front of the car as is the battery.

  5. most likely not

  6. cars rarely actually blow up.  even the cars that are supposed to blow up, 20/20 had to use an artificial igniter to actually get them to blow up.

  7. Not allways i had a roll over accident and no explosion

  8. NO.  My car was rolled upside down and it didn't blow up.  It just totalled it and made me cry.

  9. not likely

unless it flipped into an already burning fire then it would catch fire and explode!

  10. na u crzy grl

  11. Not WILL, but can. My dad's flipped maybe five cars and none have blown up. Thing about flipping a car is that usually, right afterwards, you're either unconscious, trapped, or going into shock. If cars always blew up right then, it would be a serious safety hazard, and the automotive industry would fix it.

That having been said, car explosions are caused by ruptures in the fuel lines, which leak gasoline onto hot engine pieces or sparking electrical components. This can happen whether or not the car is flipped, so in the case of ANY serious accident, it's usually a good idea to clear the scene.

  12. Not necessarily, but it CAN catch fire, so it would be a good idea to get out as soon as safely possible.  And, it doesn't have to flip over for a fire to start.  If a fuel line is cut, do to an kind of impact, and gasoline leaks out, any kind of spart, or hot glowing metal might set it off.

It's not like in the movies where all a car has to do is go flying off a cliff to catch fire. (what do ther writers expect us to believe?  That the car spotaneously erupts in flame out of sheer fright?)

  13. You have been watching too many "action" movies. The only reason it would explode would be if there were sufficient fumes in the fuel tank and it was ignited somehow.
