If any complaints have made against a preschool in Arizona how do I find out?

My 3 yr old starts summer classes at this private faith based preschool, and I would like to be aware of all information that is accessible. This is the first time I am leaving him in the regular care of anyone other than myself, so I wish to place him in good hands. This preschool is among the most pricey in our area.

  1. I live in Mesa Arizona. The place to check is:

    Arizona Department of Health Services

    Division of Licensing Services

    Office of Child Care Lincensing

    150 North 18th Ave

    Phoenix, AZ 85007

    602-364-2539

    Hope this helps you.

  2. You've figured out that the most pricey doesn't necessarily mean the safest/best for your child.

Did  you pay this school a vi-st and look around the place?

Did you speak to one (or more) teachers?

Did you visit with your child and how did they react to your child?

If you didn't do those three things, do it now.  You should then know by your gut instinct if this is a place you would like your child to spend time in.

  3. "private faith based preschool"?

So.. you're sending him off for conditioning?  I think that's all you need to know.

  4. Check with social services or the police department.  Ask the school.

  5. In Florida, the State has a site - usually with the Dept of children and Families.  However, some schools that are faith based don't have to have the same standards, and are listed as exempt.  My mother used to work for the state and said that it was a pretty tricky area.  We chose against a church school for this reason - no real accountability.  Check with your state and see what kind of standards they have for organizations like the one you are looking into.

  6. They must be licensed, and complaints would go to that agency.

  7. I would check with the Better Business Bureau, that is one place people complain to.

Also, you might ask at the elementary school to see if there are any children that went to the preschool, they may give you info on what they think of the preschool. You'll have to watch their body language, watch how they give you the feedback.

It would be great if you could know how well the kids that went there are doing in school now, are they well adjusted?

Every place will have had complaints against them, but, how many and what kind are your biggest concerns. You need more than one reference!

  8. The center itself must post a copy of their most recent licencing review.  You should ask to see it.  You can usally go online to check on this information also.  Just put Arizona child care license into your search engine and it should get you started.

If you have concerns ask for the class roster.  Contact parents of children who will be in your childs class.  They will tell you why they love/hate the preschool.

Will your child be there only for preschool or daycare also.

Go to the center at different hours see how they handle the hectic times of day like lunch, nap.
