  1. Start with Chimchar

Have a balanced team, and train your pokemon up to a suitable level before entering gyms.

If you want to know, further on in the game, how to get legendaries etc, check out my other answers

if you ever need help with them.

Also, go to Pokemon centres and marts often, paticularly before gyms, so that you can prevail. (ooh, posh word.)

    Hope i helped.

  2. Don't have an unbalanced team.  Like don't have all of the same type.  Try having a more balanced team.  Like fire, water, ground, electric, physic, etc.   Also have pokemon that are double like ground/rock, or maybe a nice one like fire/steel.  hope that helps.

  3. Get a lot of pokemon of all different kinds i guess if you asked in a more specific way what you want to know i could probabley be more help full and if u haven't started already get Chimchar

  4. First off, don't have an unbalanced team (like a team of one type, a team with too many shared weaknesses...). Secondly, choose your starter carefully. I prefer Piplup, because it can learn Peck and Drill Peck, which are very helpful when dealing with Grass-type Pokemon. Note that nearly every Water-type, no matter what game you're playing, can learn Ice-type moves. Thirdly, save right before you battle a Gym Leader or Legendary Pokemon (if you lose, turn your DS off and turn it on again, because you'll start off ready). Fourthly, catch as many Pokemon as possible early on, then worry about the balancing later (In my Pearl, my team used to be off-balanced, with Turtwig, Staravia, Luxray, Bidoof, Bastrodon, and one other Pokemon). In my Pearl, as noted in the parentheses, my team was not well-balanced. Now I have Torterra, Palkia, Luxray, Staraptor, Rapidash, and Uxie, and I'm currently working on leveling them up enough so I can beat the Pokemon League.

Finally, use moves that balance each other out and help your Pokemon's lowest stats. Another thing is to use Held Items that help with one of your attacks (My Torterra knows Leech Seed, so I gave it a Big Root to sap more HP).

    Hope I helped!!

  5. Train your Pokemon, buy lots of Potions, and don't let your Pokemon faint that often.
