  1. My wife bought me a set of Cougar Power Cats for fathers day...They are ok for a beginner like myself, a whole lot better than my mixed up "hand me down" set....The only problem Im having with them is distance. Im losing about 15-20 yds off the tee with my driver, which kills me on par 5s... With accuracy im having no problems...But as far as price theyre ok with me. I believe my wife only payed 75 bucks for 1-3 woods, 4/5 hybrid, 5-9irons, a pw and putter... It also came with a bag...Hope this helps and happy golfing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. They are older so the technology has changed. You might find it that you have a bad hook or slice, and thats because the technology. So having an up to date set of clubs could help lower your score. I would suggest getting the Adams Golf Hybird irons. They are relatively cheap and are very forgiving.

  3. Cougar has been around for a while, but they are what you might call an "off brand" club maker.  Decent sticks for sure, but  not on the same level as TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, etc.

If you are a beginner, why not?  They aren't going to set you back too much and they play all right.  Once you get better, you will want some better quality clubs, however.
