  1. Well, it reflects to other teams the loyalty of the player. If they've seen him drop out on a commitment he made with a team they will probably not want his services fearing that they could just as well drop out on you. Consequently teams will not be willing to commit too much money on the player - in terms of salary - due to the lack of loyalty.

OR in the some cases, the team might offer the player bigger bucks in hope of 'buying' the players loyalty - which certainly works in their favor. Certainly debatable. However, the value of the player will undoubtedly decrease.

  2. When siginng contracts, there should be heavy penalties for players leaving within a certain period of their contract. Or to make it more appealing to the vampire bats of agents; the longer the player remains within the terms of their contract, the larger the signing on fee is.

For example, to sign on they get an initial sum, say 15% of suggested fee. If the contract is for 4 years, each year they stay they get a loyalty bonus paid from the signing on fee monies. This money is lodged in an account, the club receive the interest and the player gets a bonus as long as they remain loyal to the club.

There has to be, of course, clauses etc, determining when a player can be transferred with no penalty - or the signing on fee monies remaining be split 50/ 50.

If a player renews their contract, there are fewer penalties as the player has stayed beyond the initial contract, etc, etc.

Should they break the terms of the contract, the club pocket the remaining money and we all laugh at the pitiful agent who is now only driving around in a Bentley GT.

Having this in place, clubs are assured of at least money from the interest of the signing on fee.

This is only an outline, but should clubs take this on board in the way of transfers in the future, I want 85%.
