If being tickled makes you laugh, and if laughter is good, then why don't we like being tickled?

...or at least, why don't I like being tickled? I've never understood this b/c when my boyfriend tickles my neck or feet, I laugh. And we all know laughter improves health, but why do I always tell him to stop or why do I always try to get away? It doesn't hurt, I just can't take being tickled...

What's your take my fellow Yahoo! Intellects??

  1. It doesn't make me laugh, it irritates me.

  2. Laughter is a defense mechanism while being tickled. Its supposed to make the attacker stop attacking because something I forgot. Sorry I can't explain it better.

  3. Yeah my buds just tickled me silly for like 45 min

this afternoon, (it was raining out) and I was

going nuts because they got my feet bottoms,

and I was screaming and begging them to stop.

But when they were finally done I was out of

breath and sweaty from the exertion but had

this rush of endorphins like I do when I run

miles on the beach. The forced laughter is

VERY healthy, but I can't stand being tickled.

People have to tie me or hold me down.

Oh yeah telling them to stop and struggling

to get away are the body's reactions to tickling.

It's weird because it makes you lose control.

  4. It just feels weird. It touches your nerves the wrong way. I don't like it either but people seem to think I do. It's annoying.

  5. this is forced laughter
