Question:

If big brown wins the triple crown would this be an insult to the natural talents of the past?

When you have great horses who won the triple crown in the past such as Secretariat, Affimed etc. How would this be right.

In baseball men like Babe Ruth Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and more, these guys were 100% natural

But when users like Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds and others like them take the glory from naturally talented legends. how could they even be mentioned in the same category.

This is ridiculous.

They should have drug user category ( * ) in honor of the legends.

  1. You know, I was listening to to commentators before the race started today and I happen to hear that they took him off steroids that he was on. The two previous races, and everyother race he was raced, he was on these steroids, which of course arent natural. I can't believe they took him off it in the first place, it's a total throw off for the horse. Plus, look what happened - he finished last. Which I'm not sure it had to do with the steroids or not, but still.

I don't think it is an insult, even if he did win. It's just how things are done today.

  2. Do you think that steroids are a new invention???  They have been around for a very long time, so how do you know that Secretariat and Affirmed weren't on steroids as well.  The probability of these horses being even more doped up than Big Brown is pretty great considering the lack of public knowledge and less regulations than are present today.

  3. Ummmm Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds have to do with Big Brown.... how?

  4. He lost, came in last place.  It's the first time I've been happy to see a horse lose a Triple Crown bid.  If he had won it would have been an injustice to Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Affirmed and all the other true champions who got it done without steroids.

I agree 1000% that any athlete who uses steroids does not belong in the same category as the greats who did it with natural ability and hard work.

What a lame excuse from TreeHugger:  "It's just how things are done today."  The reason its done that way now is because too many of todays athletes and horse trainers are too damned lazy to do it the right way.  Get off your sorry asses and WORK FOR IT instead of taking the easy way out with a steroid injection.  Until that happens you will never see a Triple Crown.
