Are we really looking at his views on policy or do you think it is more of a popularity contest? Do you think Hillary would have been nominated over Obama if he was white? What are your views? (This isn't being racist. I just want an honest opinion.)

  1. I would like to think so but as one responder noted no one knows how people will vote in the end.

The results of the elections will tell the story. Will the Democrats blow it again by presenting a major change to the Voters?

  2. I am a white voter for Obama -who would like to mention that African American people have been voting for white people all along. Why are so many white people so up set ? Ridiculous -Obama is a great man and very intelligent .

  3. Yes.

  4. he would probably be pretty popular but most of the people that watch opera probably wouldnt vote for him

  5. Not as popular, but still competitive.

  6. Yes If anything he would have won more easily, I want you to think hard and ask youself the question. Since when has being black been an advantage in any presidential or political nominations on any level, if that were the case all presidents. Who do you know except for black people which only make up about 17% of the vote that say I am willing to vote for someone just because he is black, if anything I would say that not in a million years would a white person be given the negative stigma's that Barrack Obama has been given, and his name only makes it worse.

  7. Wtf that is probably the most racist thing I've heard all day.

Just because Obama's black doesn't mean that his supporters are only black. Infact Jimmy Carter is supporting Obama and he was a part of the White House.

And Obama beat out Hilary because he was the better candidate not because he was black.

I'm voting for Obama and yeaa I'm black but I totally dislike Hilary Clinton she's seriously bipolar and McCain's too old and boring.

  8. Does his race play a part ? unfortunately, yes, but only to a certain degree. I would think that he has made it plain about his political leanings by now, and the lines are drawn. Those that reject his views now have to contend with the racist label, and are being put on the defensive. I mean, how do you defend against that?? At least in a court of law people are assumed innocent until proven guilty, but not in this case. PC has definitely run amuck. The only qualifier I can give those type of people is to tell them Condi would have my vote in a millisecond, but they quickly dismiss this. If you're against O'bama, it's a lose, lose situation !!!

  9. YES Obama would still be popular.

If both candidates were black, would people still vote for McBush?

  10. No, Obama wouldn't have been the candidate.

Not because of his color.  But because his color split the Black vote which would have gone to Hillary, who, oddly enough, has spend more time fighting for equality than Obama has, we now have Obama as a candidate.

If Obama had been white, he wouldn't have gotten 99% of the black vote...don't tell me that doesn't slant things.

  11. he (obama) has no issues,he is an empty suit !

  12. No, he was a failure.

The only successful thing he ever accomplished was a Corrupted Land Deal ---  that made him over a Million Dollars.

If he was White, he would have been Charged with Racketeering.

But .... even White Democrat Politicians are ABOVE THE LAW.

  13. if it isn't racist, then why make the difference of race the main crux of the matter ?

he is popular BECAUSE Of his views and policy.

  14. No, why do you think he has shunned his white half.  He knows he couldn't get anywhere being white.  He doesn't have anything to go on.  The ONLY reason he's a candidate is because he's black and a racist pig.

  15. I think he would be a contender... he's clearly the best public speaker we've seen in a long time... you can't argue that point...

and you also can't argue that great public speakers do very well in elections... from Reagan, JFK, Lincoln... it's a great advantage...

if he was white, Hillary maybe could have beaten him, on the "she's a woman" vote... just as the black vote has helped Obama...

and you can't deny Hillary's "unfavorably" ratings that are quite high...

but I think he would certainly be up there... and he would have probably won Ohio and W. Va....

EDIT: er... Hillary's and Obama's plans were about 90 percent identical... and they were about equally specific...

  16. Everyone forgets Obama is half white.  He becomes a black man whenever it is expedient to do so.  The white part of him is the elitist snob who believes Americans are "bitter" gun clingers.

  17. 1) Who was Bill Clinton when he ran against Reagan's Successor?  He probably would not have survived the primaries against Hillary, Edwards, et al.  But if he did manage to secure the nomination, yes he would still have the democrtaic loyalists behind him.

    2) It has been a popularity contest since Kennedy ran against Nixon in 1960.  Obama or not, why is this one any different.

    3) He is changing race politics. for good or ill.

  18. Well, I know I wouldn't have voted for him.  I voted for Hillary because I felt I knew her and what to expect from her.  Besides that, she actually said what she meant 90% of the time.

Obama was entirely too vague during the primary.  He mostly empathized with people's problems and made some very expensive promises that we all know will not happen anytime soon, if ever.  Yesterday was the first time I ever heard him speak that he actually said what his goals were and he didn't say hope and change once.  Whew!   I'd say that is progress.

His race has nothing to do with his having to win my vote.  I can see he is very intelligent but lacking in a solid, identifiable national political basis.  I like to know exactly what the candidate has in mind.

Honestly, I can't say McCain is doing any better with the spelling out any goals.  Just piecemeal statements about drilling for oil and the war.  I'll just have to wait for the final debates.  I may not vote for either of them.

  19. probably not, we say we love obama, isn't this the correct thing to say, BUT, when we close the curtain and pull the lever watch out

  20. This country is not ready for skin color yet. Martin Luther Kings speech will not be true if Obama is elected.  He would be elected by the color of his skin... This goes both ways  Black and White...

  21. He would never even be a candidate if he were white.. this is clearly a " lets be nice to the black guy" thing going on.  If he had a few more years experience.. knew how many states we had.. was not being backed by some Chicago group that no one knows anything about.. if his preacher and wife were not racist and he was not in denial.. he would do just fine.. nobody cares if he's black except the blacks.
