If business is slow what are ways to promote your business?

In my last business I had my own business things got slow around the summer.But still l need ways to keep business flowing all year around.

See if a local radio station will do a trade.

Business cards in grocery bulletin boards, bigger signs, craig's list, newspaper.  Referrals are best.
