Question:

If calling police doesn't work, who to call about off-road vehicles?

In the area we live, there are many individuals who think they have the right to race around on their off-road vehicles. They're on the streets, on the trails, over people's lawns. You name it, they drive on it. They just don't care about laws, rules, safety, the environment, or anything that isn't fun to them. Anyway, we have called the police a number of times, and we have complained to the owners of the property from whom we rent our lot, and nothing ever gets done about it. The police have to actually catch them, and the land owners seem hesitant to put effort into things that don't specifically benefit them. Even though they state clearly in the lease that such vehicles are not permitted to be driven around the park!! Any ideas on how a person can get something happening toward fixing this problem? If they are not willing to adequately enforce their rules, can those who rent from them take legal actions? By the way, we are in Canada, if that makes any difference (with regard to laws etc).

  1. Get a video camera, document the reckless behavior.  Show what kind of damage they have done, and explain how much of a risk they are to you and your families safety.  Then go to the media and talk to whoever will listen.  Get you voice heard.  I bet something will get done.

  2. Set some boards out with nails sticking out partially buried in the dirt.

Obviously calling the cops doesn't work.

  3. If calling a regular copper won't help,

    call his superior.

I do like Mr. Goodhi's way but then you might get in trouble.

  4. Maybe the sheriff would be interested, they have authority everywhere.
